What is Le Frigo vert?
We are a Montreal-based non-profit food cooperative. Members and non-members can shop for cheap organic/natural food all year long! Our Summer hours: Monday - Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
What is community-supported agriculture (CSA)?
We are all aware that agribusiness, with chemical-intensive, industrialized crop production is replacing human scale agriculture. CSA offers an alternative – the opportunity to enter a mutually beneficial relationship with a local organic farm.
The farm grows a wide variety of safe, nutritious food and practices organic growing techniques on its land. The shareholder commits to support the farm through buying a share of the harvest and by sharing the production risks: drought, cold, floods, insect damage etc… The added benefit to the sharer is that the farm not only provides food, but also the opportunity to engage actively in a commitment to restore the quality of soil, air, and water.
Weekly share prices:
- Single basket is designed to meet the needs of one curious and enthusiastic vegetable eater or of 2 people who cook with vegetables less frequently. Cost: $21/wk = $400/season.
- Large basket has roughly 2/3 more quantity and sometimes a bit more variety than a Single Basket. It is designed to meet the needs of 1 to 3 people per week. Cost: $31.50/wk = $600
- Extra-large basket has double the quantity and more variety than a Single Basket. It is designed to meet the needs of 2 to 4 people for a week. Cost: $39.50/wk = $750/season.
Biweekly shares (delivered every other week - 10 in total):
- Single Basket. Cost: $23.50/wk X 10wks = $235/season.
- Large Share. Cost: $36.00/wk X 10wks = $360/season.
