Update September 21, 2009: Ongoing work on Quartier Concordia will temporarily disrupt access to certain Concordia building entrances over the next few months

September 21, 2009

Ongoing work between Guy and Mackay on the De Maisonneuve axis of Quartier Concordia will be causing pedestrian disruptions and re-routed access to Concordia buildings over the next few months.

Please consult News@Concordia on an ongoing basis for updates.

Work on the exterior tunnel along De Maisonneuve Blvd will be completed by the end of September, and the interior work continues for the December 2009 opening.

Demolition work on the canopy on the De Maisonneuve side of the GM building has been completed. Work has now begun on the resurfacing of the sidewalks along De Maisonneuve and Guy Streets.

The city is rebuilding the south side of Place Bethune (the south sidewalk is currently closed so all pedestrian traffic between MacKay and Guy must use the north sidewalk) and will be done in two phases.

The first phase, taking place now, concentrates on building the new sidewalk at the eastern part of the GM building and at the metro entrance. It will allow a temporary entrance/exit to the GM building from the west side only, starting at the south east corner of Guy and De Maisonneuve intersection.

This will continue until early October, after which the second phase will concentrate on the balance of the work, and allow a temporary entrance to the GM from the east side along the newly constructed south sidewalk.

This second phase will continue into November. The south side of Place Bethune is expected to be open by mid-December.
