Members of the University community
We are very excited to announce that the “Greening of Mackay” will finally become a reality this summer!
From June to October 2009, traffic will be reduced to one lane between Sherbrooke St. and de Maisonneuve Blvd. and there will be no parking along the street.
Barriers will be set up and the east side of the street will be turned it into a pedestrian mall with greenery, picnic tables and chairs as well as a small stage.
The Dean of Students Office has been mandated to organize programming for the summer. Together with the Borough of Ville-Marie, the CSU and a number of other groups, we hope to be able to bring life to the street through activities such as workshops, exhibits, film showing, etc.
We need your help!
To make the summer a success, it is important that all members of the university get involved. Your ideas, projects and comments are appreciated.
We know that time is of the essence but hope that the program of activities presented will profile Concordia, the neighbourhood and the City.
We want to work with neighbours, local businesses, Montreal festivals, student associations, faculty and staff members. Our goal is to put together an eclectic list of events that will feed your soul as you eat your lunch and bring you and your family out on weekends!
Do you have any brilliant ideas? Are you willing to get involved? Do you know someone or some group we could approach? All proposals are welcome!
Please get in touch with Elizabeth Morey at emmorey@alcor.concordia.ca or at 514-848-2424 ext. 3520 by April 30, 2009.
Let’s make this summer fun!
