In Memoriam: Peyman Gohari

The Concordia community was very saddened to hear of the recent passing of professor Peyman Gohari.

At 6 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, peacefully and surrounded by his family, ECE professor Peyman Gohari passed away at the Montreal Neurological Hospital. Peyman is survived by his wife Nouri, and his 4-year-old son Armin.

He was an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests were supervisory control of discrete-event systems and formal methods. He received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran, in 1992, and M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Systems Control from University of Toronto, Canada, in 1998 and 2002, respectively.

Peyman had been fighting a brain tumor for several years, and was undergoing chemotherapy for brain cancer since August 2008.

He would have celebrated his 38th birthday on November 14, 2008.

In those 38 years he impacted everyone he knew. He will be loved forever and truly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.

A celebration of Peyman’s life was held on Thursday, November 13, at Islamic Iranian Center, 120 Bermondsey, Toronto, Ontario.
