Thirteen emerging leaders selected to come to Concordia

International ELAP students

The office of the Associate Vice-President, International is pleased to announce that thirteen students have been selected by the Canadian Bureau for International Education to come to Concordia under the Canadian Commonwealth Exchange Program and the Program for Emerging Leaders in the Americas (ELAP).

This is the largest number awarded to Concordia since the programs began.

These fellowship programs award $7,500 - $10,000 for students to conduct research or study for 4-6 months at a Canadian partner of their home universities. This support increases research collaboration and allows a greater two-way flow of graduate students.

The awarded students are from Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Uganda, Brazil and Cuba. This is the first time under these two programs that Concordia will welcome students from Brazil, Cuba, and Pakistan. They will conduct research at Concordia in the departments of Biology, Cinema, Economics, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Centre for Research in Human Development. One undergraduate recipient has been chosen to study in JMSB.
