Quebec Government Announces Major Funding for JMSB

Proposed JMSB building

March 23, 2006 - In his budget speech today, Quebec’s Minister of Finance, Michel Audet, announced a major financial commitment towards the construction of a new building for the John Molson School of Business (JMSB) at Concordia University.

Concordia’s President, Dr. Claude Lajeunesse, welcomed the announcement. “By making this important financial commitment, the Quebec Government is reconfirming the quality and importance of the JMSB to the future of this province.”

The School’s mission reflects the priorities of the government and Quebec society as a whole by graduating employable students who are also responsible citizens. JMSB strives for excellence and innovation in its graduate and undergraduate programs and places a strong emphasis on research and scholarship.

“We are also extremely pleased and applaud the government for its overall support of post-secondary education, which has been increased today by 7%,” added Dr. Lajeunesse. “It is a commitment which needs to grow, in order to ensure that Quebec’s students have access to the kind of education which will allow them to reach their highest potential and serve Quebec society.”
