CUTV Video Bootcamp 2010

CUTV’s Summer Video Bootcamp for Youth, August 2 - 21, 2010

Concordia University Television’s Summer Video Bootcamp offers a two-week intro program and a one week advanced program for youth to learn about film and television production. Campers will take part in a number of hands-on production workshops, under the guidance of skilled mentors, before teaming up to create a short film. Open to youth aged 15+.

The Department of Theatre presents: The Return of Ulysses, June 23

The Return of Ulysses is based on Monteverdi’s last opera: a story of the magic of the ancient Gods who play with the fate of humankind, their puppets. Concordia theatre students will perform as puppeteers, and the performance will feature professional baroque singers and musicians.

John Molson School of Business Royal Bank Distinguished Visiting Speaker Series proudly presents Laurie A. Babin, Abell Endowed Professor of Entrepreneurship University of Louisiana Monroe. What should our marketing graduates know and be able to do? While several studies have examined what should be taught in specific courses, such as marketing research, none have examined the marketing discipline in general. Marketing academicians and practitioners rated the importance of learning outcomes, and several similarities and differences emerged. This presentation will discuss the most important concepts/skills each group deem important.

This annual exhibition, a juried show that provides students with an opportunity to display their work in a public venue and commemorates the completion of their studies, showcases a cross-section of the many disciplines and research activities of Studio Arts students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Jason King, “Remembering Famine Orphans: The Transmission of Famine Memory between Ireland and Quebec”, June 9

The Irish-born priest of Sherbrooke parish served on Grosse Île in July, 1847, and then presided over a mass-adoption of Famine orphans into French-Canadian families. Sellar relied on O’Reilly’s testimony yet remained unaware that, shortly after his return from Grosse Île, O’Reilly founded an organization to promote French-Canadian and Irish Catholic colonization of the Eastern Townships in order to help safeguard the faith of his parishioners.

Every year the Colors of Concordia Team rides in the Tour de l’Île which is a 50 km bike ride around the island of Montreal. Colors of Concordia is dedicated to encouraging and promoting projects that help bring about a greater understanding between cultures.
