President Judith Woodsworth is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Kelley as Interim Chief Financial Officer, effective December 7, 2009, replacing Larry English.
Larry English announced his retirement from the position of Vice-President, Finance this autumn, following a 13-year career at Concordia. President Woodsworth expresses her gratitude and appreciation to Larry English for his dedicated work and joins the senior administration in wishing him every success for the future.
Patrick Kelley will be responsible for ensuring that Concordia’s financial systems and processes are consistent with the direction and focus of the university’s strategic goal of best practices in administration. He will assume the day-to-day leadership of Financial Services while a national search takes place.
Patrick Kelley has a long and rich professional background, having worked in the John Molson School of Business, in Concordia’s administration and in the private sector. As Executive Director, Strategic Plans, Kelley was instrumental in the implementation of the findings of the Operational Efficiency Review Committee, the Budget Model Review and other initiatives flowing from the university’s planning activities. Most recently, he served as Special Advisor to the VP Services on IT and the Acting Head of IITS in addition to his duties in the JMSB. Kelley has also held several senior managerial positions in the private sector, including the position of Chief Information Officer, with The Molson Companies and Air Canada. He has also held senior positions at Ernst and Young.
President Woodsworth said, “I am pleased that Patrick Kelley will be taking on the interim leadership of Concordia’s financial services portfolio, and assure him of the support of the finance team and the entire university community in this key assignment.”
Patrick Kelley nommé chef intérimaire de la direction financière
La rectrice, Mme Judith Woodsworth, est heureuse d’annoncer la nomination de M. Patrick Kelley au poste de chef intérimaire de la direction financière dès le 7 décembre 2009, en remplacement de M. Larry English.
M. English avait annoncé son départ à la retraite du poste de vice-recteur aux finances cet automne, au terme de 13 ans de carrière à Concordia. Mme Woodsworth lui exprime sa reconnaissance pour ses bons et loyaux services et se joint à l’administration supérieure pour lui souhaiter plein succès dans ses nouvelles entreprises.
M. Kelley aura pour responsabilité de veiller à ce que les systèmes et procédés financiers soient conformes à l’objectif stratégique de Concordia en matière de meilleures pratiques administratives. Il assurera ainsi la direction des opérations quotidiennes des Services financiers pendant qu’un avis de candidature sera lancé dans tout le Canada.
M. Kelley témoigne d’un parcours professionnel long et riche, notamment à l’École de gestion John-Molson, dans l’administration de Concordia et dans le secteur privé. En effet, en sa qualité de directeur général Plans stratégiques, M. Kelley a joué un rôle primordial dans la mise en œuvre des conclusions du Comité d’examen de l’efficacité opérationnelle, de la Révision du modèle budgétaire et d’autres initiatives découlant du plan directeur de l’Université. Plus récemment, il a assumé les fonctions de conseiller spécial auprès du vice-recteur aux services sur les questions de TI, et de directeur intérimaire d’IITS, outre ses fonctions à l’École de gestion John-Molson. M. Kelley a également occupé plusieurs postes de haute direction dans le secteur privé, dont celui de chef de la direction de l’information chez Molson et à Air Canada. Il a aussi occupé des postes de très haut niveau chez Ernst et Young.
