Howard Magonet appointed Director of Counselling and Development

Associate Vice-President, Enrolment and Student Services, Roger Côté, is pleased to announce the appointment of Howard Magonet as the Director of the Counselling and Development department effective November 2, 2009.

Holder of a Masters and Undergraduate degree in Social Work (McGill University), as well as an undergraduate degree BA (Psychology) from Concordia University, Howard Magonet is presently a senior manager at the Federation of Combined Jewish Appeal where he is involved in the Community Planning and Allocations sector. He has worked in the educational sector, specifically with at-risk high school students, and has also maintained a practice as a Consultant/Therapist on issues relating to substance abuse and treatment interventions.

Howard Magonet will assume the leadership of the department whose mission is to empower students to maximize their personal, academic, and career potential. Counselling and Development offers diverse programs, resources and expertise in support of student success.

Associate Vice-President Côté believes that Howard Magonet’s considerable leadership and management experience in multi-disciplinary social services organizations will bring considerable value to the department of Counselling and Development and Student Services.
