Welcome to the first part of our tour of the Integrated Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Complex. Faculty and staff have begun to move into the building and it will be ready to welcome students for September.
Our tour begins at the lobby of the Engineering & Computer Science side of the building, located at the corner of St. Catherine St. W. and Guy:

Our guide on this tour was John Fisher, Senior Projects Coordinator, Facilities, Operations. John’s challenge was to bring this two-headed baby in on time. Like a proud papa, John happily shared with us all of the technical innovations and beautiful sights of the new complex.

The complex contains several public spaces. The lobby will be a point of intersection and place of exchange between the university community and the general public.

The lobby provides large glass facades onto both St. Catherine and Guy streets. Multiple entrances will facilitate public access to the building, including this doorway to St. Catherine.

From the lobby, people will be able to access the metro and a new underground shopping concourse. The stairway is framed by an illuminated wall of changing colours.

Located at the foot of an escalator to the underground concourse, the Seascape and the Sublime is a major artwork by studio arts professor Holly King. The work was commissioned by the Concordia University Part-time Faculty Association (CUPFA) to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary.

Although the building is equipped with high-speed elevators, the numerous staircases with unique architectural features will likely entice the building’s occupants to walk up to their offices.

From the lobby, this main staircase leads to the first of five atriums in the ENCS building.

Arriving on the landing of the first atrium, our tour continues with an exploration of the ENCS side of the integrated complex.
